… that today is the anniversary of the $75,000 Baseball Man? In 1961, outfielder Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees became the first Major League baseball player to be paid $75,000 per year when he signed a contract in 1961. Trivia fans: His $75,000 annual salary is equivalent to about $755,092.91 today. And the average salary for a player today is about $4 million!
