… that today is Hen Galan New Year’s Day? For the 200 inhabitants of Gwaun Valley, near Fishguard, Dyfed in Wales, the new year does not begin until January 13 because they’ve stuck with the Julian calendar and did not give up the 11 days lost when the rest of Great Britain switched to the Gregorian calendar in 1752.
