Did you know…
… that today is Louvre Museum Opening Day? Originally a fortress in the 12th century for Philippe II, the Louvre was then reconstructed in the 16th century as a royal palace. It was then converted into an art museum, opening its doors on November 8, 1793. The Louvre contains many priceless works, including works by Michelangelo and Raphael, as well as the museum’s most famous painting, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Traveling there soon? Remember, the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays!
